Atzucac is a creation by the trio EFÍMERES inspired by traditional street parades and brass bands, conceived from a fully contemporary and experimental point of view.
A trio of voices with a roaming punk-cabaret sonic and stage style who use only the body as instrument (voice, body percussion and movement), reinforced with megaphones. EFÍMERES sing in endangered languages such as Chamacoco, Tibetan and Amazigh, alongside Muisca —which became extinct in the 18th century—, mixing them with obsolete words from Catalan.
Premiered at the GREC FESTIVAL Barcelona, the piece explores vocal resonances and the dialogue with each venue’s context. It travels through emblematic spaces of historical, cultural, community or architectural interest, generating a living, fleeting conversation.
